What was a dream in 2025 has become a reality in 2026 for visitors to Kincsem Park, Budapest. In cooperation with Total Performance Data (TPD), we are looking forward to an exciting weekend of racing on September 5–6.
With the TPD system, even “freshman” visitors can gain a better understanding of horse racing and follow the action more easily, with detailed data bringing the performances of the horses to life.
Saturday: Greyhounds, Trotters and the Joker’s Horse
As part of the international horse racing festival, Saturday will bring greyhound racing and trotting to Kincsem Park.
Basketball fans, keep an eye on Delicious Gar. The horse is owned by Serbian basketball superstar Nikola Jokić, better known as “The Joker.” The eight-time NBA All-Star is not only one of basketball’s biggest names, but also the owner of Delicious Gar, one of Serbia’s leading trotting sprinters.
Sunday: International Stars on the Flat
Sunday belongs to the flat races, with an exciting international field ready to line up.
The Kincsem-díj, carrying a purse of HUF 40 million, has attracted attention well beyond Hungary, including in Newmarket.
Last year’s winner, Claymore, ridden by Saffie Osborne, is among the leading contenders again. Also arriving in Hungary is Asgard’s Captain, with jockey Marco Ghiani. Both horses are expected to arrive on Friday, giving them time to relax and recover after their journey across Europe before taking on the prestigious race.
Two familiar names at Kincsem Park will also return: Gasparini and Kozakenzipfel, who finished second in the 2025 edition.
Another international name to watch is Dario Vargiu, who will partner Prado, trained in Hungary. The Sardinian jockey is a true globetrotter and a ten-time champion jockey in Italy, with more than 4,000 career victories.
A Battle of the Female Trainers
The competition for the Kincsem prize is also shaping up as an intriguing contest between some of the sport’s leading female trainers. Jane Chapple-Hyam, trainer of defending champion Claymore, will be looking to retain the title. She faces strong opposition from Slovakia’s Zuzana Kubovičová, who saddles Krackan, and Hungary’s most successful trainer, Gyöngyi Molnár, who sends Dzsingisz Kan into battle.
With international jockeys, leading trainers, established Kincsem Park contenders and some fascinating connections, the stage is set for a memorable weekend.
